Oregon Jobs and Trade
Oregon depends on trade. Oregon companies that research, design and develop products in Oregon that are sold around the world directly or indirectly support hundreds of thousands of jobs. With $21 billion in exports annually, over 6,000 Oregon businesses sell goods overseas and nearly 90% of these are small and medium sized businesses. International trade is integral to the creation and preservation of businesses that support Oregon families and their communities. Trade legislation like Trade Promotion Authority and the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement currently being debated in Congress, can help ensure Oregon businesses have access to new markets and will compete on a level playing field.
Individuals and businesses that support trade are being drowned out as trade agreements are being debated in Congress. We believe it’s time all voices -- not just the loudest -- are heard.
Oregon Jobs Through Trade is a new coalition shining a spotlight on how trade directly leads to more jobs and more livable communities. Our mission is to help ensure that all pro-trade supporters' voices are heard by our Federal delegation of elected officials in Washington, D.C.
Member Story: Oregon’s Local Goes Global
We are fortunate to call Bend, Oregon home, where there is desert to the east of town and mountains to the west. Our geography says a lot about who we are.
It’s not uncommon for us to meet before work, hike the Cone (one of our many backcountry ski spots) and enjoy hot coffee with a view. Our lunch breaks are often filled with single track and sunshine. And after work, you can find us grilling burgers and sharing growlers on the deck. We don’t hold back when at work or at play, and we don’t accept "lukewarm" - in our attitude toward life...or in the temperature of whatever we happen to be drinking.
Hydro Flask was founded in 2009, when we launched the first all-insulated bottle line-up into the market. From modest beginnings, we exploded with hydration-loving fans everywhere to hit 1 million in sales by 2011. We then turned our attention to the beer market and launched the first-ever insulated growler. And we haven’t stopped since.
We continually strive to bring new, innovative solutions to our customers. From insulated caps, to the lightest weight bottles in the insulated category, our dedication to our products and culture remains our number one focus. Six short years later, we now offer over 100 products in four different categories: hydration, coffee, beer and food.
We don’t mean to brag, but we are proud of our accomplishments. We are honored to have made Inc 500’s fastest growing company list and Outside Magazine’s Best Places to Work list 2 years in a row and have received other product and industry awards as well.
In 2015, we expanded in Europe, with plans to go worldwide by the end of 2016. As with all global expansions we are challenged with the taxes, duties and tariffs countries require to import our products. Reducing those fees improves our margins, motivates us to expand quicker and impacts our decision making process. Reducing those fees would support our investments and current goals of global sales representing 20% of our business by 2018.
